Airborne®Gives the Gift of Music to Roosevelt Elementary
Elementary School Teacher Grant Recipient to Implement "Music Family Fun Night"
January 9, 2007
Bonita Springs, FL, January 9, 2007 - Lorianne Cabrera, an elementary school teacher at Roosevelt Elementary, is one of 25 recipients of the Airborne® Teacher Trust Fund™ (ATTF) grant. The grant, created by Airborne, Inc., makers of the popular immune-boosting herbal health formula, is designed to help elementary and middle school teachers implement art and music programs in their schools.
Cabrera received a $4,070 grant to implement "Music Family Fun Night", a monthly music program. The program allows students to explore music, learn how music relates to the other arts as well as other subjects and to teach their parents what they learn in music class.
"Music Family Fun Night allows children to explore music beyond the limits of the classroom," says Lorianne. "As an educator I must show children the diverse paths that lie ahead for them, not kill interest that may just be awakening, this program is the building block to the paths."
Understanding the need for funding in art and music subjects, Victoria Knight-McDowell, a former second-grade school teacher and creator of Airborne Health Formula developed the Airborne® Teacher Trust Fund™.
"With budgets becoming tighter each year, schools are faced with the difficult decision of having to cut vital programs," says Knight-McDowell. "The Airborne® Teacher Trust Fund™ is meant to fill the gap and keep our youth engaged and inspired, so they can live full and rewarding lives."
The first quarter brought in an astounding 600 applications from teachers in Florida, California, Louisiana, Massachusetts and Missouri. Reviewing all applications, the panel of judges selected 25 recipients from the five states.
"It's frightening to think of a world in which children are not exposed to the arts in any meaningful way," says Elise Donahue, Airborne CEO. "As corporations and individuals it is up to us to make sure we're investing in the future of our country." Donahue said that the Airborne® Teacher Trust Fund™ is beginning with an investment of $250,000. Grants ranging from $200 to $10,000 will be awarded to teachers to implement programs during the 2006-2007 school year.
The grants will be awarded on a quarterly basis, however all applications will be kept on file for consideration until April 2007. Programs are evaluated based on need, projected impact to students, educational program elements and, of course, the teacher's desire and passion to succeed.
